Research from Savills has revealed that 77% of buyers now say that they will consider the likely energy consumption of their next home before buying, and this has led to many buyers now looking at new build properties. The research also showed that buyers saved an average of 55% on energy bills over second hand properties, making this a timely topic to consider.

We’ve got a range of new build developments all with energy-efficient features perfect for those looking to buy in this current climate…

Foal Hurst Green (Berkeley)

Foal Hurst Green (Berkeley)

Located adjacent to a 29-acre nature reserve in Paddock Wood in Kent, Foal Hurst Green allows buyers to tap into the benefits of rural living while being within an easy reach of a wealth of amenities.

This development comprises three-, four- and five-bedroom houses, as well as one- and two-bedroom apartments, and is designed to suit all types of buyers from families to young professionals and retirees. With play areas, a five-acre nature reserve, natural landscaping, hedgerows, and a duck pond, Foal Hurst Green has residents’ wellbeing at its heart.

Ecology is woven into the fabric of the homes’ design, with an overall net biodiversity gain across the site of 42%. Properties are built using photovoltaic technology to reduce emissions during construction and are fitted with energy-efficient fixtures to continue this reduction long-term. Bat and bird boxes will also be installed on buildings and trees as part of an ongoing site-wide management programme that will actively manage and promote the rich ecological value of the site.

Less than a mile from home is Paddock Wood town centre, a thriving rural community with a range of quality local establishments such as a popular family-run butcher, independent florists, farm shops and a veterinary practice, as well as a Waitrose for daily essentials.

The new community is located within walking distance to the Paddock Wood town centre and train station, running regular services to London Bridge station in just 41 minutes.

Prices at Foal Hurst Green currently start from £495,000 for a three-bedroom house.

Elmsbrook (FABRICA and Crest Nicholson)

A joint venture between FABRICA and Crest Nicholson, Elmsbrook in Bicester is a unique, multi-award-winning eco-town with a thriving community of residents. Part of the North West Bicester Masterplan, 40% of the final development will be devoted to green spaces including allotments, play areas, sports and recreational facilities, a country park and acres of interconnecting cycle and walking paths.

Elmsbrook (FABRICA and Crest Nicholson)

Every home has been designed with the future in mind, minimising waste and improving efficiency by keeping homes naturally cool during the summer and warm during the winter, with highly energy-efficient doors and higher than standard cavity and roof insulation to restrict heat loss. The homes are designed with clever integration of advanced eco-initiatives to deliver outstanding standards in modern living as well as the potential to reduce household bills.

Homes at Elmsbrook use less electricity than the average Bicester home. Heating and hot water come from the district’s heat and power system so no more worries about boilers, while each house has rooftop solar panels to generate electricity.

The development currently has a collection of four- and five-bedroom homes on offer, with prices ranging from £495,000 to £630,000.

Occupying a prime position within Farringdon, Postmark offers superb connections throughout the city and beyond. The neighbouring areas of Clerkenwell, Chancery Lane, King’s Cross and Old Street provide residents at this new address with quick and easy travel connections, with five London Underground stations within walking distance.
